Bohag Bihu (Rongali Bihu) 2026 Celebrated Across Assam, April 14-20
Bohag Bihu, the most celebrated festival of Assam marking the Assamese New Year and the spring sowing season, was observed from April 14 to April 20, 2026. The seven-day festival, locally known as Shat Bihu, commenced with Goru Bihu (cattle worship) on April 14 and Manuh Bihu (human celebration) on April 15, with the main cultural events continuing through April 17. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma extended greetings calling Bohag the 'heartbeat of Assam'.
